Tsvetlin Yovchev, the Chief of Staff of Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev, has resigned, local media informed on Tuesday.

“I am currently on a leave of absence, and I will not be part of the President’s administration when I return,” Yovchev told reporters.

“I have personal projects that are not compatible with the position of the President’s Chief of Staff,” he explained, clarifying that his projects are not political.

Yovchev, who is a former head of Bulgaria’s National State Security Agency, has become the first member of Plevneliev’s administration to resign since the President assumed office in 2012.
