A total of 63 parties have been registered for the upcoming snap elections in Bulgaria, according to the country’s electoral body.

Bulgarian Central Electoral Commission head Ralitsa Negentsova has told reporters that eight coalitions, consisting of a total of 27 parties, have so far joined the race.

The order of ballots will be drawn at random on Friday, April 5.

The deadline for the registration of parties expired on March 27, while the deadline for coalitions expired on April 1.

Independent candidates may register with the district electoral committees by April 9.
The deadline for changing a coalition by removing a party from it is 5 pm on April 6.

The center-right government of former PM Boyko Borisov resigned amid massive anti-poverty protests in February, prompting President Rosen Plevneliev to adjourn the Parliament, appoint a caretaker Cabinet and schedule snap elections for May 12.
