French Police Bust Traffickers of Bulgarian Workers

French border police have busted a large-scale network for labor trafficking functioning in Bulgaria, France and Portugal.

Two were arrested, including the suspected mastermind of the trafficking of workers from Bulgaria, according to reports of French news channel BFM TV, as cited by the Focus news agency.

The investigation was launched on a tip-off about a Bulgarian who supplied fake ID papers in the French city f Bordeaux.

The investigation uncovered an organized trafficking ring which had been sending workers from Bulgaria to France.

The workers were most often accommodated at illegally inhabited buildings in Bordeaux.

According to reports of French border police, the trafficking ring hired Bulgarians both from Bordeaux and directly from Bulgaria and offered them to entrepreneurs in Portugal in exchange for EUR 150 per person.

The positions at which the Bulgarians were hired illegally in Portugal are not specified but the French authorities inform that they were exploited.
