Bulgaria's caretaker government has allocated BGN 41 M for measures to help low-income households through employment programs, compensations and benefits.

Deyana Kostadinova, caretaker Minister of Labor and Social Policy, made clear Thursday that the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation was to decide which measures would be funded with the sum of BGN 41 M by Friday.

She said that the measures would be discussed at the sitting of the NCTC next Tuesday, while the conclusive vote on the exact sums and activities would take place at the sitting of the caretaker government next Wednesday.

Kostadinova explained that the measures aimed at helping the most vulnerable social groups would be financed with money provided through cost optimization at all ministries.

She specified, however, that the cuts affected the maintenance costs of ministries, not the delegated budgets.

„This decision was not easy to make and was not adopted by consensus, there were ministers who voted "No", caretaker Prime Minister Raykov stated Thursday.

He said that the cost cuts at ministries had a noble goal and would send a message of solidarity.
