Bulgaria's caretaker government will announce Thursday the money it will allocate from the budget for measures to assist low-income groups.

Once the sum has been decided, a set of urgent measures will be drafted to be discussed by the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation next Tuesday, according to reports of the Bulgarian National Television (BNT).

Bulgarian trade unions call for an increase in the monthly minimum wage, maternity benefits, and the lowest pensions.

Bulgaria's caretaker government has made clear that it will earmark assistance for the unemployed through employment programs, as well as support for parents of children with disabilities.

One-time compensations will also be handed out to low-income people who did not qualify for energy assistance for the 2012/2013 heating season, the only condition being that their incomes exceeded the threshold by up to BGN 10.

The measure will also apply to pensioners who will no longer be eligible to receive energy assistance after April 1, 2013 due to the increase in pensions, who will be given a second one-time payment before winter.
