A total of 65 parties have so far submitting documents for registration in the upcoming snap elections in Bulgaria, according to Ralitsa Negentsova, spokesperson of the country's electoral body.

The deadline for parties willing to join the race is 6:00 pm on Wednesday.

Wednesday is also the deadline to appoint the members of the district electoral commissions by the Central Electoral Commission.

The deadline for registering coalitions or changing their membership is 5 pm on April 1. The same deadline is valid for initiative committees nominating independent candidates. These candidates, on their part, must register with the district electoral committees by April 9.

The deadline for changing a coalition by removing a party from it is 5 pm on April 6.

The center-right government of former PM Boyko Borisov resigned amid massive anti-poverty protests in February, prompting President Rosen Plevneliev to adjourn the Parliament, appoint a caretaker Cabinet and schedule snap elections for May 12.
