Bulgaria's caretaker Prime Minister Marin Raykov has called on police officers to do everything possible to eliminate vote-buying at the upcoming early elections.
Speaking Monday at a national meeting of the Interior Ministry in the resort of Hisarya, Raykov recommended rotation at police departments during the May 12 parliamentary elections.
He also emphasized the importance of ensuring a good dialogue between regional police departments and regional electoral commissions.
Raykov, as cited by the Bulgarian National Television (BNT), assured Interior Ministry officials that there would be no politically-motivated dismissals at the institution.
He asked heads of police departments to help him build trust in the Interior, adding that they had to take a zero-tolerance attitude towards corruption.
The caretaker Prime Minister reminded Interior Ministry employees that they were depoliticized officials and underscored that he relied on their professionalism.
