Russian President Vladimir Putin may soon enjoy the company of a bunch of adorable Bulgarian shepherd puppies, according to a report.

Avram Petkov, Chair of the Bulgarian Republican Federation of Cynology, has revealed that Putin's Bulgarian shepherd dog, Buffy, is likely to become a father soon.

Petkov has told the 24 Chasa daily that the new puppies will make this particular dog breed "even more popular" in Russia.

Buffy was presented to Putin by former Bulgarian PM Borisov during the former's visit to Bulgaria in mid-November 2010 to negotiate important energy matters.

The young creature of the Bulgarian shepherd breed swiftly became a media hit all over the globe, what with Vladimir Putin's unaffected tenderness shown toward his present.

Buffy's female partner, Yantra, was sent to Russia at the end of 2010.

The Bulgarian shepherd dog is a rare breed which originated in Bulgaria as a large, massive mountain livestock guardian dog.
