The astronomical spring will arrive in Bulgaria one hour after midday on Wednesday, bringing slightly higher temperatures than last year.

Spring will be here at 1.02 pm, the Institute for Astronomy and the National Astronomical Lab on peak Rozhen at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, BAS, announced.

Spring is one of the four temperate seasons, along with summer, autumn and winter.

It starts with the astronomical vernal equinox - around March 21 in the northern hemisphere and around September 23 - in the southern, and ends with the summer solstice – around June 21 in the northern hemisphere and December 21 - in the southern hemisphere.

Spring months in the northern hemisphere are March, April and May, in the southern – September, October, and November.

Days become longer in the spring, mercury goes up and nature comes back to live.

The first day of spring in Bulgaria will be balmy and without precipitations.
