Emergency Situation in Central Bulgaria's Gabrovo Continues

Environment | March 16, 2013, Saturday // 19:21|  views

The emergency situation in the central Bulgarian municipality of Gabrovo has not been lifted as expected Saturday.

Gabrovo mayor Tanya Hristova said that 11 settlements in the area are still without power after high winds that burst Thursday in the region cut power lines.

Over the past three days, two persons have perished in Gabrovo due to wind-related causes.

Winds have significantly abated Saturday, but Hristova said that the emergency will continue until the full restoration of power supply.

An emergency situation has been also called in nearby Dryanovo and Tryavna municipalities.

Dozens of settlements in the larger Gabrovo region are still without supply of electricity.
