Bulgarian Members of the Parliament were showered with toilet paper and diapers while showing for one of their last workdays,

Between 300 and 500 protesting people gathered at 12 noon Tuesday before the building of the Parliament in a rally under the motto "Let's Sweep the Garbage."

Yanko Petrov, one of the organizers of the rally, announced every MP was to receive a roll of toilet paper on his or her way out.

Led by Yanaki Ganchev, the other "wing" of demonstrators, who have set a tent camp in the vicinity, also joined the protest.

People are holding brooms and shouting "afia" and "Thrash Out."

An obsolete blue Trabant automobile, made in socialist Germany, is parked there as well as a symbolic gift for the MPs.

The demonstrators have obtained from the City Hall a permit to gather at the building's back entrance to hand the "gifts."

It is expected they will move later to the building of the Administration of the President.

There is strong police presence in downtown Sofia.

Petrov was adamant people disagree with the "scenario" and refuse to vote in the snap election on May 12. He was joined in this opinion by a number of the participants, saying they do not want to vote as once again the ballots include names of discredited politicians of the transition period after the fall of the communist regime.

They pledged to boycott the election and to continue their protests.

On February 21, Bulgaria's Parliament approved the resignation of the government of Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, and his ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, amidst the unprecedented since 1997 protest rallies against the unbearable utility bills, the monopolies and the wide-spread poverty, which later turned into a civil unrest and political demands.

Snap general election is to be held May 12, just two months ahead of the regular date in July.

President, Rosen Plevneliev, is to name the caretaker government at 4 pm.
