Bulgaria's Ambassador to France Marin Raykov has been tipped as the most likely caretaker Prime Minister.

Raykov was Deputy Foreign Minister in the government of Prime Minister Ivan Kostov (1998 – 2001), after which he was appointed Bulgarian Ambassador to France, dnevnik.bg informs.

When the center-right GERB government assumed office, Raykov became Deputy Foreign Minister, but in 2010 he was yet again sent to France as Bulgarian Ambassador.

The panel of Bulgaria's caretaker government is to be announced at 4 pm on Tuesday by President Rosen Plevneliev.

President Plevneliev and the caretaker Prime Minister are to make public statements.

The caretaker government is to prepare the early elections scheduled for May 12.

One week ago, Plevneliev announced that the caretaker government would include three Deputy Prime Ministers.

The caretaker government is to function under the motto "For Europe, for democracy, for economic development," Plevneliev declared.

On February 21, Bulgaria's Parliament approved the resignation of the government of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and his ruling center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party amid unprecedented protests against unbearable utility bills, monopolies, and wide-spread poverty.
