3rd Bulgarian Man Dies after Setting Himself on Fire

The third man who set himself on fire during massive anti-stagnation protests in Bulgaria has passed away early Sunday morning.

53-year-old Ventsislav Vasilev set himself on fire in Radnevo on February 26, having explained he has long lived in great poverty.

He was hospitalized in critical condition with 75% burns in the Plovdiv University Hospital.

According to the hospital's release, his condition remained critical for the whole 12 days of struggle for his life, and he passed away from organ failure.

Vasilev is the third Bulgarian man to set himself ablaze and perish the last few weeks.

Last Sunday, Plamen Goranov, 36, died in Varna, after having set himself on fire on February 20, as an extreme act of political protest.

February 19, 26-year-old Traian Marechkov set himself on fire and died soon after in Veliko Tarnovo, having explained he is too despaired to live on.
