Slovenia Govt Ousted in No-Confidence Vote

Slovenia's center-right government has fallen in a no-confidence motion.

The no-confidence vote against the year-old government of Prime Minister Janez Jansa was backed Wednesday evening by 55 out of a total of 90 MPs, with 33 votes against and 2 abstentions, according to reports of Deutsche Welle.

Opposition leader Alenka Bratusek was given the mandate to form a new government.

Bratusek will become the ex-Yugoslav republic's first female Prime Minister if she manages to build a coalition.

The political crisis in the country erupted after the publication of a report of Slovenia's anti-corruption watchdog accusing the Prime Minister of failing to declare EUR 210 000 of his personal assets, which caused three of Jansa's four coalition parties to leave Parliament.
