Bulgarian Rightist Leader Calls for 'Strong State, Regulation'

Strengthening of state institutions and stronger regulation is the way to overcome problems with the oligarchy and oligopolies, stated rightist leader Ivan Kostov.

Thursday Parliament is debating the resignation of PM Boyko Borisov's cabinet, prompted by massive protests against stagnating economic conditions in the country.

Kostov argued that statehood in Bulgaria has greatly corroded in previous years, which has given a better environment for murky economic entities and worse protection for citizens.

According to him, only stronger institutions and stronger regulations can mend the situation.

Ivan Kostov, Bulgaria's PM 1997-2001, has remained in history for carrying out a massive privatization and regulation liberalization campaign.
