Rightist Leader: Bulgaria Doesn't Need New Constitution amid Crisis

The political crisis that has gripped the country following the resignation of PM Boyko Borisov's cabinet mandates swift policy actions, stated rightist leader and former PM Ivan Kostov in Parliament.

Thursday Parliament launched debate on the resignation, which is expected to be voted around 12 noon.

Speaking in plenary, Kostov said that calls for calling a Grand National Assembly which to pass constitutional changes would be counterproductive.

"In this way we are in danger of supplanting what people came out to protest for. They came out to protest for better opportunities and a better economic situation," said the rightist leader.

"How could a Grand National Assembly create new jobs?" asked Kostov rhetorically.

He strongly called for national unity, and added that political parties should join forces to take up responsible steps.
