An Australian national has emerged as a suspect in last year's terror attack in Bulgaria's Black Sea city of Burgas, according to two Western officials.
The officials are familiar with the investigation and spoke only on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak to the news media, The Washington Post informs.
Reports that an Australian citizen was involved in the attack emerged last week. The Bulgarian Sega daily reported that the terror group responsible for the bus bombing at the Burgas airport in July 2012 consisted of Arabs with dual citizenship, one of whom had an Australian passport.
Two of the most respected and popular US dailies, New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, have published articles about anticipations Bulgaria will blame Tuesday Hezbollah for the Burgas terror act.
The bombing at the Burgas Sarafovo airport killed 5 Israeli tourists, their Bulgarian bus driver and the perpetrator of the attack.
While Israel blamed Hezbollah and its sponsor Iran for the attack, the Bulgarians have not yet issued their final report on the matter.
