Bulgarian Flag Waves Proudly at South Pole

The Bulgarian national flag is now waving at the South Pole for the first time ever, the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute has announced.

The flag was put there by researcher Hristo Pimpirev, who is is part of an Antarctic expedition set for the pole to honor the centennery its first conquest by Roald Amundsen and Robert Scott.

Day temperatures in the area, which is currently under the polar summer season, is around -32 degrees Centigrade.

Pimpirev’s expedition is expected to return to Punta Arenas on Wednesday.
