5.9 Earthquake Jolts Alaska Coast

An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale struck off the coast of Alaska Monday evening.

According to reports of the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter of the quake was 39 kilometers west of Anchorage at a depth of 50.1 km.

The quake occurred at approximately 4:42 p.m. local time on December 3.

No injuries or damage were reported.

According to the Alaska Dispatch, the Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer has issued no watches, warnings or advisories, and expects no tsunami.
