Bulgaria Launches Concession Procedures for Port Terminals Nikopol, Burgas-West

Bulgaria's government adopted decisions Wednesday to launch tender procedures for service concessions of the port terminals of Nikopol and Burgas-West.

The service concessions will be granted for a period of 35 years, according to the government's press office.

The aim is to attract serious and financially stable private investors to run and maintain the sites by offering port services and conducting accompanying activities at the terminals.

The concessionaires will be selected through an open tender process.

The concessionaire of the Nikopol port terminal will be required to invest no less than BGN 25 000, VAT excluded.

The concessionaire of the Burgas-West port terminal will be required to invest no less than BGN 20 053 000, BGN 9 553 000 of which in the first seven years of the concession.

The concessions are to attract investments, improve the mobility of cargo and passengers, boost the quality of customer service, increase safety, boost local employment and develop transport in the regions of Nikopol and Burgas.
