Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, pledged Sunday that his country will absorb 100% of all EU funds by the end of 2013.

Speaking from the town of Etropole, near the capital Sofia, at the opening ceremony for facilities repaired with EU funding, the PM commented that a portion of the said EU funding is slated for other countries, but the five transport corridors, connecting Europe and Asia, were Bulgaria's advantage.

To a reporter's question about BGN 240 M more in compensations to be requested for the closure of units of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, NPP, he voiced hope that "Bulgaria will receive what it is asking for."

In commenting on statements of his predecessor, Sergey Stanishev, leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, and of the Party of European Socialists, PES, who said the PM failed to defend national interests in Brussels, Borisov said:

"During his term all EU funds were frozen. Our country did not become impoverished in the last three years, but during the decades when BSP ruled it," adding regretfully the rule of his party, Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria, GERB, coincided with the most serious global economic crisis.

On Macedonia's EU membership bid, he stated that Bulgaria has always supported it and will continue to do so.
