Incumbent US President, Democrat Barack Obama has been reelected to the US Presidency beating Republican challenger Mitt Romney, according to CNN's projections.

Obama has managed to clinch the US Presidency for a second term by winning key battleground state Ohio and its 18 electoral votes, thus reaching a total of 274 electoral votes, with 270 needed.

Romney had collected a total of 201 electoral votes by the time the CNN projected Obama has been reelected.

Ohio once again became the key battleground state that technically determined the outcome of the US Elections, with its projection essentially rendering the results in other key swing states such as Florida and Virginia irrelevant.

Earlier projections stated that Obama has carried California (55 electoral votes), Hawaii (4 electoral votes), Washington (12 electoral votes), Oregon (7 electoral votes), and has made a breakthrough in Wisconsin, the home state of Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan, snatching its 10 electoral votes, in Iowa (6 electoral votes), and in New Mexico (5 electoral votes).
