Bulgaria's President Heads for Asia-Europe Summit in Laos

Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev will take part in the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM-9) summit, scheduled on Monday and Tuesday in Laos.

Plevneliev has been invited to join the summit by European Commission chairman Jose Manuel Barroso, the President's press office has stated.

Plevneliev will be welcomed by Laos President Choummaly Sayasone in Vientiane.

On Monday, the Bulgarian President will meet with Chinese PM Wen Jiabao, Vietnamese PM Nguyen Tan Zung, Korean PM Kim Hwang-sik and Singaporean PM Lee Hsien Loong.

Scheduled for Monday and Tuesday in Vientiane, Laos, the biennial summit of the Asia-Europe Meeting will bring together Asian and European government leaders to discuss the economic situation as well as global and regional issues.
