The youth branch of Bulgaria's opposition left-wing Socialist Party, BSP, presented Wednesday as a gift to Prime Minister Boyko Borisov a Halloween pumpkin with his portrait carved on it.

Scores of them and older BSP members gathered near the Council of Ministers building in downtown Sofia before the Cabinet's meeting to bestow officially the gift, BSP reported.

Borisov and none of his Ministers came out to receive the pumpkin, which the young Socialists say symbolizes the rule of the PM's Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB – an empty pumpkin with their leader's image.

"People in the Western world celebrate All Saints Day; we celebrate All Non-Sense Day with a Pumpkin Chief," Yavor Gechev, leader of the Socialist youth movement joked.

The participants further informed that only Culture Minister, Vezhdi Rashidov, had stopped by when heading for the meeting and has given high marks to the Jack-O-Lantern from an artistic viewpoint.

Since the gift was not wanted, the Socialists will now put it on display at the party's headquarters for everyone wishing to see it.
