EU foreign policy Catherine Ashton and US State Secretary Hillary Clinton have renewed calls for talks with Iran on its nuclear program.

However, the pair of foreing policy leaders also stated that the EU and US have no intentions of lifting sanctions imposed on Tehran.

At a joint press conference in Sarajevo, Ashton and Clinton said both diplomacy and pressure will continue until Iran makes significant concessions over its nuclear program.

"We continue to try and find ways to move forward on our negotiations," said the EU's High Representative for Foreign Policy.

"We expect some serious, good faith negotiations," added the US Secretary of State.

"Our message to Iran is clear: our window remains open to resolve the international community's concerns about your nuclear programme diplomatically ... but that window can not remain open indefinitely," explained Clinton.

Western powers, including the EU and the US, have alleged that Iran's uranium enrichment program is geared towards producing nuclear weapons, a claim that the Iranian state has been rejecting as baseless.
