Members of the "Elders" unit of Bulgarian center-right ruling GERB party heaped praises on the party's leadership at a congress Sunday.

"We extend our gratitude to the man who is a veritable builder of a new Bulgaria - an exceptionally worthy man, who with his apostolic efforts built the structurs of our party GERB," said Nikolay Andreev, who was reelected to chair GERB's organization for seniors.

He was referring to GERB chair and Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov.

Borisov himself was not present at the event, which bears the motto "Wisdom for Bulgaria," but other leading party and state figures were there.

"We are also deeply thankful to GERB's vice-chair Tsvetan Tsvetanov. We are greatful to him and Borisov for the trust they have in us and the support they give us," added Andreev.

Reporters for a string of Bulgarian media have commented that proceedings at the events recalled to them the forums of the pre-1989 Bulgarian Communist Party in terms of the hefty praises lavished by members on the party leadership.

Tsvetanov, who is Bulgaria's Minister of Interior, and GERB's Tsetska Tsacheva, Speaker of Parliament, urged the "Elders" to work hard at motivating voters for the upcoming general elections in the summer of 2013.
