In the first nine months of 2012, Sofia Airport serviced a total of 2 689 132 arrival and departure passengers, according to the airport's press office.

Despite the lower number of airlines, passenger flow remained unchanged from the same period of 2011 as a result of the increase in passengers serviced by Bulgaria Air, Wizz Air, NIKI, Austrian Airlines, Turkish Airlines, and easyJet.

A total of 33 812 airplanes departed and landed at Sofia Airport in the period January-September 2012, down by 6.4% from the same period of 2011.

Sofia Airport also registered a decrease in aircraft movements in the segments of seasonal tourist charter flights and domestic flights.

Business aviation increased by 11% and cargo flights went up by 5% as compared to the same period of 2011.

Sofia Airport registered a growth of 3.3% in the volumes of processed cargo and postal shipments.

During the first nine months of 2012, air shipments carried on specialized cargo aircraft increased by 17% from the same period of 2011.

In the period January-September 2012, the leading airliner by number of passengers carried to and from Sofia Airport was Bulgaria Air, followed by Wizz Air, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, and easyJet.

The top destinations in the period were London, Vienna, Paris, Milan, and Varna.

In September 2012, Sofia Airport processed a total of 322 690 passengers, down by 2.3%.

Sofia Airport processed 1303 tons of cargo shipments, up by 1.9% from the same period of 2011.

A total of 3937 airplanes departed and landed at Sofia Airport in September 2012, compared to 4262 for the same month of 2011.
