Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev has declared that his country seeks strong high tech cooperation with Israel.

During his visit to Israel on Monday, Plevneliev declared that Bulgaria's relations with Israel are strong on many levels but he was particularly keen for more intensive high tech cooperation given that Israel has a reputation for being one of the most advanced high tech nations in the world.

Bulgaria's first high tech park, Sofia Tech Park, is expected to be functional in 2015. Plevneliev has expressed his support for the project on various occasions.

The Bulgarian President also invited his Israeli counterpart Shimon Peres to ulgaria's guest of honor in Sofia next March when Bulgaria commemorates the 70th anniversary of its rescue of its Jewish population from Nazi concentration camps.

Peres told Plevneliev that Bulgaria will always have a special place in the hearts of Israelis for its refusal to give up its Jews to the Nazis during World War Two, The Jerusalem Post informs.
