'Your Art on Contemporary Card' Exhibit Announces Winners

The exhibition opened by Societe Generale Expressbank and Sofia Contemporary shows selected projects for a bank card with a contemporary art design
The official opening of the exhibition "Your Art on Contemporary Card" – a joint project of Societe Generale Expressbank and Sofia Contemporary on the Move, started on 15th of October 2012 at 18:16 H in Serdika metro station.
The exposition shows the projects of the winners and of chosen participants in the competition for a bank card design and is also part of the first international festival for contemporary art in Bulgaria – Sofia Contemporary.
More than 1000 original proposals for bank card design were received in the period 15th August - 15th September 2012 through the Facebook application "Your Art on contemporary Card". The six winners of the competition were announced during the official opening of the exhibition – one was chosen based on the "likes" in Facebook and the other five were judged by a professional jury.
Shenay Dauldji with "tsETHNO", Zahari Ganchev with "Society", Zoran Georgiev with "Expenses", Anislav Varkolashki with "Loading", Filip Lazarevski with "Shh..." and Stanislava Gukasyan with "Dance of shadows" were the lucky six who won the prizes in the contest - 500 EURO from Societe Generale Expressbank, delivered in a bank card with their own design.
«Contemporary art is everywhere around us, in everything we see, we do, we touch. The bank card is one of the things we appreciate, so, why not having a beautiful bank card that we bring with pleasure in our wallet”, said Philip Lazarevski, one of the winners of the competition, in a blitz interview for EDNO magazine. Interviews with all winners in the contest are to be published this week on EDNO magazine website – www.edno.bg , as well as on the Facebook page “I love contemporary art” (www.facebook.com/contemporaryartbg). The art proposals of the winners are also to be published on the same Facebook page, as well as the other designs specially selected for the exhibition Your Art on Contemporary Card.
The exposition Your Art on Contemporary Card is to be displayed in the underpass of Serdika metro station for almost a month – from 15th October 2012 till 11th November 2012.

SOFIA CONTEMPORARY is a new festival for contemporary art created within the frameworks of a project of Sofia Municipality “Festivals for art in the public space: SOFIA CONTEMPORARY and Open-Air Festival in Western Park”, financed by OP “Regional Development” 2007-2013. The parts of the festival program “In Motion”, “Forum”, “For Children”, “Video” are organized by the financial support of Societe Generale Expressbank, Samsung Electronics, Renault.
The first edition starts on 19th October and is to continue until 9th November. The main goal of the event is to shorten the distance between the contemporary art and the Bulgarian audience. The topic of the first edition is Contemporary Unlimited. The festival is going to present art works that are a part of the daily life of the big city, that communicate with the audience and provoke the reaction of the chance people who pass by. For 3 weeks the citizens and guests of Sofia will be provoked to experience the city as a collective space which has to be reorganized and on which they can influence.
