Bulgarian Prosecutor Found Drowned - Report

The dead body of a drowned man was uncovered in the Kardzhali reservoir in south eastern Bulgaria early Tuesday morning.

The man is believed to be the vice-regional prosecutor of Bulgaria's Smolyan Region, according to unconfirmed initial reports.

Preliminary infromation also has it that he had died due to an unfortunate fishing accident, and was not killed.

Prosecutor Kiril Vasilev went fishing in the area Monday morning, but after he several times failed to respond to his mobile, his relatives alerted the local police.

An officer dispatched to the area discovered Vasilev's vehicle abandoned near the reservoir, upon which divers were called to the scene.

According to the preliminary police hypothesis, the fisher had probably slipped into the water and drowned. No traces of violence have been found at the site.

The dead body will undergo identification and autopsy, and further investigations are under way.
