Obama with Large Lead over Romney in US Early Vote

Incumbent US President and Democratic Party nominee, Barack Obama, leads Republican Mitt Romney by 59% to 31% among early voters, according to a poll conducted by Reuters and the Ipsos research company

With less than 3 weeks until November 6 Election Day, 7% of the polled say they have already voted in person or by mail.

The poll shows the early vote will play a larger role this time, compared to the 2008 presidential election, when one of every three voters cast an early ballot.

The early vote has already opened in 40 States.

Election headquarters of both candidates call on supporters to vote as early as possible in order to target those who are yet to make up their mind with door to door or on the phone campaigning.

Obama's headquarters insist the incumbent President has the lead in the Iowa and Ohio early vote, while the margin in several other key States is slim, compared the 2008.

After the first debate between the two rivals, polls gave Romney a 2% lead over Obama (49%-47%), who admitted mistakes in his performance, seen by many as weak.

There are two more debates between Obama and Romney – October 16 in Hempstead, New York and October 22 in Boca Raton, Florida.
