The police in Bulgaria's capital Sofia have ruled the incident with a man throwing himself on subway tracks Thursday evening a suicide.

The story developed close to 6 pm at the Lomsko Shosse metro station, halting all trains between Lomsko Shose and Obelya for over two hours and all other trains for over an hour. The trains were stopped due to police investigating what happened.

They now say this was a certain suicide case. The man was first killed by high voltage in the tunnel and then hit by a subway engine. It remains unclear how the victim entered the tunnel since there is a tall fence and a number of security cameras.

The tapes from the cameras are still examined. Subway police patrols are going to be dispatched at every metro station to prevent copycat incidents.

The motives for the suicide and the identity of the man remain unclear.
