Bulgaria Advances to Top 24 in Homeless World Cup

Bulgaria's national homeless football team, known as "the Team of Hope, has progressed to the secondary stage in this year's Homeless World Cup in Mexico City.

On Monday, the Bulgarian squad defeated Germany 12:5 and lost 3:5 to Russia, finishing second in its preliminary group with four wins and just one defeat.

A total of 48 national teams participate in this year's Homeless World Cup. 24 teams have progressed to the tournament's secondary stage.

The tournament runs to 14 October and has a number of global ambassadors who are international football icons, such as Romario, Emmanuel Petit, Rio Ferdinand and Eric Cantona.

The Homeless World Cup is a social organization with the goal of ending homelessness through the sport of football.
