Bulgarian tourists have been stranded in Spain after being left without transportation to bring them back home at the end of their vacation.

88 Bulgarians are in the lobby of a hotel in the Marbella beach resort in southern Spain, bTV reported Sunday. They travelled there under the program Golden Spain, which offers preferential off-season prices for people over the age of 55.

A Bulgarian professor, Dr. Boyan Lozanov, who is part of the group, told bTV that they had to leave Saturday after a week-long vacation, organized by the On Travel Company, only to be told they could not provide a return trip home.

Lozanov adds no other explanations, except a canceled flight, was offered, stressing that ages in the group range from 55 to 80, and 20 out of the 88 are handicapped.

The Professor further informs the company promised them a bus to take them to Madrid and accommodate them in a hotel, but did not give 100% guarantee.

bTV called the company and reached an employee who denied comments.

The stranded Bulgarians are seeking any possible assistance to bring them home ASAP.
