Bulgaria has received Gazprom's agreement to cut down on the duration of the new contract it is to sign for natural gas deliveries, said Bulgarian Energy Holding CEO Mihail Andonov.

Currently Bulgaria and Russia are uner negotiations for their next gas contracts, and the Bulgarian side has multiple times voiced its desire to conclude shorter contracts.

"There is an agreement from the Russian side for a 6-year term of the contract," said Andonov Saturday.

The move is seen as making Bulgaria freer with respect to choosing alternative natural gas sources.

Andonov said that next week a Bulgarian delegation is traveling to Moscow for talks and the contract with Gazprom is expected to be concluded by November 15.

The BEH president did not reveal the price at which Russia will sell gas to Bulgaria.

However, he pointed out that Bulgaria will be requesting that the price be lower than the already lowered prices effective since April.
