Bulgaria Deputy FinMin Tipped for C-Bank Board Member

Bulgaria's president has nominated Deputy Finance Minister Boryana Pencheva for a member of the central bank governing board.

The new member of BNB governing body is expected to enter in to office on December 2, 2012 for a six-year-term.

Boryana Pencheva is currently in charge of macroeconomic planning, debt management and coordination of the state policy in the field of financial services and financial markets.

She is also responsible for cooperation with international financial institutions involved in the coordination of economic and financial policy in the European Union and financial management assistance from the Union, and other international programs.

From 2002 to 2009 Pencheva served as Director of Management of EU Funds Directorate within the Ministry of Finance.

She was responsible for planning, negotiating, management, coordination and monitoring the EU financial support for Bulgaria, the EEA Financial Mechanism, as well as for bilateral programmes with Greece, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, etc.

Prior to 2002 Pencheva was Executive Director of the Trade Promotion Agency within the Ministry of Economy and Expert in and Director of the Trade Institute within the Ministry of Economy.
