In December Bulgaria will host a meeting of the Finance Ministers of the 10 EU member states outside the eurozone to discuss plans for the creation an EU banking union.

This was revealed Saturday to the Bulgarian National Radio by Bulgarian FinMin Simeon Djankov, who is on a visit to Cyprus to participate in an Ecofin meeting.

The European Commission's proposal for the creation of an EU supervisory body for banks is the key topic of the informal meeting of EU economy and finance ministers.

"Bulgaria supports the idea as a necessary step for the development of the Union's financial market, but there are still details to be fleshed out," said Djankov.

He added that, according to his assessment, the introduction of a unified banking montioring will not be a problem for banks in Bulgaria.
