The Pentagon has decided to deploy forces in the Middle East in the wake of a flood of violent anti-American protests all over the region.

"We must be prepared in case those protests go out of control," stated US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta.

Among the most problematic points is Sudan's capital Khartoum, where the US plans to deploy 50 marines to defend the embassy.

Meanwhile, two US military officers have died during an attack against American base Camp Bastion in southern Afghanistan on Friday.

Later a spokesman for the Taliban confirmed that the attack was also in retaliation for the mysterious documentary seen as defaming the Prophet Mohammed.

Riots said to be provoked by the movie already cost the lives of 4 US diplomatic officers in Libya, including that of ambassador J. Christopher Stevens.
