The Departure section of Terminal 2 of the international airport in Bulgaria's capital Sofia was closed briefly on Friday over an alleged fire.

Unconfirmed reports said that a fire erupted at Terminal 2 of the Sofia International Airport Friday afternoon, and that it was caused by a cigarette.

A large number of police officers could be seen on the spot in and outside of Terminal 2, which handles most of the traffic of the airport in Sofia.

According to the press center of the Sofia Airport, there was no fire at Terminal 2 but a brief incident in which the fire alarm went off at 2:30 EET sending an automatic signal to all passengers to leave the terminal.

The press center further said that the Sofia International Airport has resumed its normal operations.
