The meeting of the European Union Justice and Home Affairs Council, scheduled for September 19-20, has been postponed.

The news was reported by the Bulgarian online news agency Dnevnik, citing own sources from the Council.

The Bulgarian news agency BTA also reports Tuesday that the decision will be officially announced Wednesday.

The agenda of the meeting included a reexamination of the issue with the enlargement of the Schengen area with the joining of the two newcomers, Bulgaria and Romania.

The meeting has been cancelled on grounds very few of the internal affairs topics for discussion have reached the decision-making stage. The other reason is that in the area of justice, the meeting has been already cancelled one month ago over the lack of enough questions to be examined by the ministers.

Speaking off-the-record, the unnamed sources have informed that the expectations are to have a more substantial agenda for such meeting in October.

According to the preliminary schedule, the next meetings are to be held on October 25-26 in Luxembourg and on December 6-7 in Brussels.
