Ex-Policeman Nabbed for Gruesome Sunny Beach Murder - Report

The man busted for the murder of a 30-year-old woman in the Bulgarian Black Sea resort of Sunny Beach is a former police officer, according to a local media report.

The suspect's name is Mihail Menashki, according to Darik radio. Recently, he was dishonorably discharged for selling fake road vignettes.

The suspect is currently in custody. As it was reported earlier on Monday, police authorities believe he was driven by jealousy as he stabbed his victim, 30-year-old Maria Zlatanova, a manager of a bar at the resort.

The report says that Zlatanova and Menashki had a brief relationship.

The surviving victim has told police he saw a man storming from the nearby bushes and attacking her with the knife. He says he did not know the assailant.

The murder happened slightly after 1:30 pm Monday when the victim left the bar after the end of her shift.
