Three Bulgarian citizens have been arrested in Virginia Beach in the US for theft of merchandise valued at over USD 100 000.

Local media report that Slavcho Andonov, 59, his wife, Tinka Andonova, 56, and their daughter, Elvira Raycheva, 23, have been stealing for months now clothes, shoes, perfumes, and toys. This is not the first arrest for the three, who have been caught stealing before.

They are currently in jail while the mother and the father are already indicted. US authorities believe the family had been sending the goods to Bulgaria.

The couple worked as store janitors. After other employees noted that different merchandise is missing, they called the police, leading to the arrest of the Bulgarians.

Their native towns in Bulgaria and the length of their stay in the US remain unknown.

The search of the place where they stored the stolen goods led to the police seizing 96 large bags stuffed with clothes, shoes, perfumes and toys.
