Stanishev in the Global Left - Many Titles about Nothing

After "delighting" Bulgaria for 4 years as PM, Bulgarian Socialist Party leader Sergey Stanishev has "delighted" it by getting elected Vice President of the Socialist International.

He's added a new title to the one of Interior President of the Party of European Socialists. (He might even be elected PES President which would be an achievement for Bulgaria's "political" "elite".)

Great, except Stanishev is nowhere where he should be – i.e. in opposition to PM Boyko Borisov and the ruling GERB party.

Save for some blanks about GERB destroying democracy in Bulgaria, nothing meaningful's coming out of BSP under Stanishev – with the other former communist comrades also to blame. So the Socialists seem destined for 4 more years in "opposition".

With the PES and SI titles, Stanishev is "back" to his PM period when he charmed European state and party leaders with intelligent statements and good English but back home ruled mainly the park behind the Cabinet building. And Barroso kept wondering why the heck nothing good's happening in Sofia despite Sergey's assurance.

So Stanishev's PES and SI titles mean nothing without actual results – not just in party leadership but in Bulgaria's government.
