Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has made a puzzling statement regarding Dimitar Berbatov's move to Fulham, saying that the player may actually decide to snub the club.

Feguson has claimed that the deal is far from over, with Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas bidding to bring the Bulgarian back to White Hart Lane.

"He has not gone yet. I do not know anything about it. There's not been any contact from him," he has commented on the Berbatov situation, as cited by The Daily Star.

"We thought he was in Italy but it turned out he isn't. He could be anywhere. I really mean that."

Berbatov was close to joining Fiorentina but the deal fell through after interest from the London club.

"I wouldn't be surprised if he was at Tottenham. There are rumours going around. I do not think it is settled at Fulham," Ferguson stated.

Fulham manager Martin Jol already declared that the 31-year-old Bulgarian was the biggest transfer in the history of the club.
