Bulgaria's Pironkova Advances to 3rd Round at US Open

Bulgaria's top female tennis player, Tsvetana Pironkova, has reached the 3rd round at US Open for the first time in her career.

The 24-year-old defeated Japan's Ayumi Morita 7-5, 6-2 on Thursday and is yet to lose a set in the tournament.

Even though Pironkova has advanced to the second round in ten consecutive Grand Slam events, she was yet to reach the third round outside Wimbledon.

The Bulgarian will face world No. 62 Silvia Soler Espinosa in the third round.
