A 20-year-old Bulgarian man has committed suicide by jumping from the Ribni Vir viaduct of the Bulgarian highway "Hemus".

The man jumped from more than 100 meters; the viaduct in question is the highest in the Balkans.

His body was noticed by a driver Friday morning, the Interior Ministry press service reported.

The police found that the man is a native of the southern Bulgarian town of Perushtitsa. He was supposed to show up at work in Plovdiv on Thursday but did not.

According to the police, he must have hitchhiked to the Hemus Highway viaduct since no car was found nearby.

Upon searching his body, the officers found the man's ID, a lighter, and the photo of a woman; the police established her identity, and found that she is a native of Sofia. The apparent suicide case continues to be under investigation.
