Young North Korean leader Kim Kong-un is about to embark on his official visit abroad, the destination being Iran, according to reports.

According to the reports, Kim will take part in the six-day summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran starting Sunday.

NAM is a group of states considering themselves not aligned formally with or against any major power bloc. As of 2012, the movement had 120 members and 21 observer countries.

The Telegraph has noted that Iran and North Korea are close allies and have reportedly exchanged technology and know-how in the face of United Nations sanctions.

The news report that Kim Jong-un would visit Iran is yet to be verified, a government official said Wednesday, as cited by The Korea Herald.
