The Sueddeutsche Zeitung has published Sunday an extensive report covering the ups and downs of holiday life in one of Bulgaria's principal Black Sea resorts, Sunny Beach.

The reporter mostly concentrates on the extremely low prices at which German tourists can get decent, but not quite luxurious conditions.

Food is generally good, staff - generally sullen, rooms and facilities usually do not live up to advertised standards, writes the paper.

A lot of attention in the report is given to the seemingly unlimited quantities of cheap alcohol that is flowing in Sunny Beach.

According to the writer, Germans on holiday in Bulgaria can also feel a strong cultural difference not only with Bulgarians, but with other tourists, coming largely from the former socialist block.

The article also does not fail to mention the perception of the important role organized crime plays in Bulgarian economic and political life.

Many resorts in Bulgaria are extensively used for money laundering and have hard to identify owners, writes Sueddeutsche Zeitung.
