Representatives of the Syrian opposition based in Bulgaria are about to call upon the Balkan country's authorities to receive a small number of those wounded in the Syrian conflict, according to a local media report.

Syrian apposition members are about to address their request in a letter to Bulgarian Health Minister Desislava Atanasova, Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov and PM Boyko Borisov, dnevnik.bg says.

The report points out that dozens of thousands of refugees have been wounded during the ongoing conflict. Even though they receive medical care in Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon, the health care systems in these countries have grown overloaded due to their large number.

Syrian medics based abroad have offered their help to Turkish hospital. However, they are not allowed to practice their profession in the country.

If heavily wounded Syrians are to be transported to Bulgarian hospitals, they will be taken care of by Syrian medics, the request allegedly suggests.

The Syrian community in Bulgaria has pointed out that their request is strictly humanitarian and not political.
