World Marks 35 Years since Death of Elvis Presley

Fans all over the world are to pay tribute to Rock n' Roll king Elvis Presley on Thursday, as it marks 35 years since his unexpected death.

The legendary singer passed away on August 16, 1977 from a heart attack at the age of 42.

Late on Wednesday, Presley's ex-wife Priscilla and their only daughter Lisa Marie greeted a crowd of thousands of fans who had flocked to Graceland for a candlelight vigil marking the anniversary.

The vigil began Wednesday night, according to international media. It runs through Thursday morning and marks the high point of Elvis Week, the annual celebration of Presley's life and career.
